The Fisher Memorial Building was named after Burgie Lee Fisher of Virginia, an early entrepreneur in the expansion of the telephone industry in the 1920s. A legacy from his estate in the late 1950s provided CIU (then called Columbia Bible College) with additional funds to pay off the debt on its current Monticello Road property.

Renovations to the two-story 15,000 square foot building included seven classrooms as well as office space. Two new bathrooms were added that previously did not exist, new electrical and lighting were installed throughout the building and brand-new IT and data capabilities were added to classrooms.

Students and staff will now have the option of traveling to the second floor on the newly installed elevator. Where there were once no windows and only brick walls, there are now new glass windows to enlarge interior office space and bring in natural light.
